Simplify copy-and-pasting commands from the documentation by removing
the preceeding '$' chars indicating bash-commands. ('$' are kept in the
command if it is not meant for copy-and-pasting, i.e. if it is prefixed
by some python environment name, indicating that the command is to be run
inside the environment)
