How to handle slight calibration changes after grinder maintenance?

When changing beans, I often refer to archived brews with same/similar beans, to quickly get started with a good grind size.
Now it happens that after disassembling and cleaning the grinder, its calibration is slightly "off" compared to before dis- and reassembly, which I would have to take into account when looking at archived brews' grind size settings.
I outline my current two approaches, but would like to know how you are handling this issue (or not, perhaps it's just me?).

1. I started writing the calibration changes into the grinder notes - but this easily becomes unwieldy, especially when comparing archived brews from a couple of maintenance cycles ago.
2. Currently I am trialing duplicating the grinder after each calibration cycle (including a numbering scheme so I can better trace back setting changes over multiple maintenance cycles) - this makes handling the issue of 1. easier, but I am losing cumulated stats of the grinder, for one.

So, is there a better way?

Basically I don't see a better solution.
You enter the grind-size for each brew.
The only solution which comes to my mind:
Set the grind size like:
1 - 3.4
1 - 3.5
2 - 3.4

So the 1 or 2 would refer your "calibration" cycle, you just upcount the number.
Therefore you know the iteration, and don't loose stats?
