windows 98 dos box x version

Hi all I'm trying to use dos box x on my windows 98 pc I've chosen the portable 9 x version of dos box x as
I thought that was the right version to choose but when I run dos box x it wont let me mount any drive
I'm not Shure whether I have to install dos box x as it doesn't seem to have a automatic installer for that version
is there something I'm doing wrong or do I have to choose a norther version of dos box x for windows 98
