    • Supports all CSS color formats (hex, RGB, RGBA, named colors)
    • Interactive overlay interface with alpha channel support
    • Full bidirectional model binding via value and show attributes

0.2.4 - 2026-01-14

Added

Option A: Simplified Shared State with #[dampen_app] Macro Attribute

  • shared_model Attribute: One-line shared state setup in #[dampen_app] macro
    • New shared_model = "StateTypeName" attribute automatically:
      • Generates SharedContext::new(module::StateTypeName::default()) in init()
      • Passes shared context to all view constructors via create_app_state_with_shared()
      • Wires up shared state dispatch in generated update() method
    • Validates that src/shared.rs exists at compile time
    • Zero boilerplate: eliminates ~30 lines of manual setup code per application
  • UiBindable for SharedContext: Enables automatic shared context passing
    • Implemented UiBindable trait for SharedContext<S>
    • Delegates get_field() to inner state via read() guard
    • Allows DampenWidgetBuilder to treat shared context as a bindable source
  • Automatic Shared Context Integration: Widget builder auto-wires shared state
    • Extended from_app_state() to automatically include shared context if present
    • Checks app_state.shared_context and passes to builder via with_shared()
    • Zero manual configuration required in view code
  • CLI Template Updates: New projects include commented shared state examples
    • dampen new templates include // mod shared; with setup instructions
    • dampen add --ui templates include commented create_app_state_with_shared() example
    • Step-by-step documentation in template comments
  • Example Application: examples/macro-shared-state/
    • Demonstrates shared_model = "SharedState" attribute usage
    • Two views: window (displays state) and settings (modifies state)
    • Theme switching, username changes, notification counter
    • Compares with manual setup to show boilerplate elimination

Inter-Window Communication (Feature 001-inter-window-communication)

  • SharedContext: Thread-safe container for application-wide shared state
    • Generic over state type S: UiBindable + Send + Sync
    • Built on Arc<RwLock<S>> for concurrent access (multiple readers, single writer)
    • Clone-friendly design for passing to multiple views
    • Sub-microsecond access time with zero overhead
  • {shared.field} Bindings: Access shared state from any view's XML
    • New SharedFieldAccessExpr AST node for shared field access
    • Parser recognizes {shared.field} syntax and nested paths (e.g., {shared.user.name})
    • Runtime resolution via resolve_shared_binding() in Iced backend
    • Codegen support for production builds via generate_shared_field_access()
    • Null-safe: missing fields render as empty string

    • Generic signature: AppState<M: UiBindable = (), S: UiBindable = ()>
    • Backward compatible: defaults to AppState<M, ()> for non-shared apps
    • New constructor: with_shared_context(shared: SharedContext<S>)
    • Type-safe API with PhantomData markers
  • Example Application: examples/shared-state/
    • Demonstrates theme, language, and username sharing across views
    • Main window displays shared state with {shared.field} bindings

    • Evaluator distinguishes local vs shared field resolution
  • Handler Registry: Extended with shared state dispatch support
    • dispatch() method unchanged for backward compatibility
