External volume changes not reported back to Music Assistant (AirPlay provider)

Question

When using the AirPlay provider, volume changes made externally (via device remote control, manufacturer apps, or home assistant) are not reported back to Music Assistant. The UI continues showing the old volume level until a change is made through MA itself.

Is this expected behavior / a known limitation of the AirPlay protocol, or should external volume changes be syncing back?

Devices

• BlueSound Node X (AirPlay)
• BlueSound Pulse M (AirPlay)
• Denon AVR-X2100W (AirPlay)

Current behavior

1. Play music via MA using AirPlay provider
2. Change volume using device remote or manufacturer app (e.g., BlueSound app)
3. Volume changes on the physical device
4. MA UI still shows the old volume level

Expected behavior

MA should reflect the actual volume level of the player, regardless of how it was changed.

• Music Assistant version: 2.7.3 (container)
• Provider: AirPlay

Tested with 2.7.6, the volume is not reported back to MASS. Are there some AirPlay improvements in 2.8.0 beta versions that are not included in 2.7.6 ?

Confirm the setting for the player "Ignore volume reports sent by the device itself." is OFF?

Yes, the devices have Ignore volume reports sent by the device itself disabled.

I'm away from home for some time. I'll report here when I'm able to test this
