Airplay (1) device seen as Apple TV 4K in MA as a player

Hi everyone,

I have a Denon AVR-X1000. I have always used Music Assistant to play to this receiver via AirPlay without any issues.

However, after a recent Music Assistant update, the receiver is now detected as an Apple TV 4K. If I disable the AirPlay player provider, I can play to this receiver again. The downside is that I can no longer play to my other AirPlay speakers. And it cannot be used in my player group..

I have already completely uninstalled Music Assistant several times, cleared the cache, and reinstalled it, but the problem keeps coming back as soon as I enable AirPlay again.

I also cannot seem to make this receiver function only as a DLNA player.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?

I don’t know why you would want to use DLNA over AirPlay but have you changed the Output Protocols https://beta.music-assistant.io/settings/individual-player/#output-protocols

because the Denon AVR-X1000 is no longer recognized as an AirPlay 1 device but as an AppleTV 4K device and expects PIN Pairing, I disabled the AirPlay provider . As a result, the players are now shown as DLNA players. Streaming to the AVR-X1000 is then possible.

When I reinstall AirPlay as a provider, the AVR-X1000 stops working and it indicates that configuration is required, because it appears to think the device is an Apple TV 4K and asks for PIN codes to be entered.

The AVR-X1000 is a Denon receiver with AirPlay 1, not an Apple TV 4K. As mentioned, this started happening after an update.

What I would like to know is why Music Assistant identifies an AirPlay 1 device as an Apple TV 4K, and how I can correct this.

Please set the AirPlay provider to verbose. Remove the Denon from MA. Restart the MA server so the Denon gets discovered again and then attach the whole log here

OK. The AVR X1000 is presented as "Kelder".

However, I do see one thing. Can you try renaming the Denon amp to something which does not have Kelder in it. It looks like you have an Apple TV also which you have Kelder in the name.

I have Airplay on VERBOSE. But I don't see any VERBOSE log lines after reinstalling MA, and adding players.. btw, I'm not able to remove a single player.
I will rename the amp to something that is not Kelder. I will also look what the name of the ATV is.

Well.... Renaming the Friendly name in the AMP hardware did the job!.. Maybe there is somewhere an entity that has the name or ID. Anyways, everything works again.
