Hi! I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as you. My application was approved a few days ago, but when I try to open the "Education Benefits" details, it gets stuck loading and never shows the confirmation or the Copilot Pro redemption link.

Were you able to fix it? Was it just a temporary glitch, or did you have to contact support or do something specific to solve it?

Hey! My governmentally issued student ID is 2-sided. On the front it has my name, date of birth and ID number and on the backside it shows the date of validity and the name of my school (among other info). In the current state of the system, it's not possible to upload multiple sides nor to upload pictures from my gallery. I've tried taking a picture of the backside only, but photos taken with both my front camera and back camera turned out to be blurry. I've even tried with my webcam but it produced an even worse image. After many failed attempts, I've submitted a barely readable photo and it got rejected almost instantly. Could you make uploading documents permitted or at least have the option to verify students through other channels? It would be urgent for my JetBrains subscription.

Thank you for your reply! I tried taking a picture of 2 of my documents, one being my student identity card and the other being an official dated exam notifier with my school's stamp. I took one photo with my front and one with my back camera, but no matter what, they turned out to be unreadably blurry. I cleared the cameras beforehand and they work perfectly fine in other apps.

Yeah, you will definitely need to show your personal details - key to the application. I would suggest having a look at I need to translate my evidence. What can I do? which suggests that you show one side of your Student ID along side your School Details (you can perhaps write it down in bigger characters for easier visibility).

I've tried again. I'm honestly not sure if you are aware, but GitHub's system is completely flawed. The image sent to the server is 316x316. So pixelated, that there is not a single letter that is recognizable from the picture. I do not have ANY document that could fit into such a small image while their content stays readable and could verify my identity. Not to even mention multiple documents. How am I supposed to fit multiple into a single photo with translation included? I've attached half of the original photo that is sent in a request to the server after pressing the upload button, please see for yourself.

Please come up with a reasonable solution as if the situation stays the same, I won't be able to verify myself and will loose access to tools that are more than crucial for my studies!

I printed a hard copy of my unofficial transcript, then held the paper to my webcam close to focus... surprisingly, it worked!

PSA - If you:

1. Are here because your previous edu discount expired.
2. Are waiting for GitHub to re-approve a new discount, or apply a coupon to your account because the system did not do this immediately after approval.
3. Were using GitHub Pages for hosting a custom domain, which went offline when the discount expired.

Then:

YOU SHOULD MOVE YOUR DNS OFF GITHUB PAGES IMMEDIATELY, UNTIL YOUR RENEWAL GOES THROUGH

Otherwise, it is possible your domain will redirect to a SPAM website while GH Pages is offline. On my domain, this was some kind of online casino website based in India.

I have absolutely no idea how this is technically possible, but this happened to my domain.

I am not sure if this is due to some kind of bug or security issue, but if anyone knows the right place to file a ticket, please let me know. I cannot imagine this kind of redirect being intended behavior.

Yes, my domain has been verified for years. There was no setup problem.

What happened was my edu discount expired, and GitHub took my website offline, because it was built from a private repository rather than a public one. GitHub pages is only supported for public repositories unless on a pro account.

At this point, my domain redirected to a SPAM website.

The issue with Education Benefits Application – Revoked Status
I submitted an application for GitHub Education Benefits on May 06, 2025, using the GitHub account Dathack102. However, I received the following error message:

“There are outstanding issues with your GitHub account. Please contact GitHub Support.”

When I checked my application status, it showed Revoked, just one day after submission. I’m not sure what caused this and would appreciate your guidance on how to resolve any issues or what steps I should take to reapply successfully.

Hi guys. I am new here and really do not know my way around the plateforme so hopefully I am asking this in the right place :)
When I want to apply for the student package, I need to allow access to my location but when I click on the button it turns into red saying : "Error getting Location. Retry?" But it does this an infinite amount of times. I have checked and allowed GitHub to access my location in the safari settings. I don't know what else I can do to get passed this first step of application.

Extremely frustrating and completely broken process. I am a student in a Master of Art program that is completely virtual. I do not live on campus. Even the people that live on campus take the class virtually. I do not have any printed documents, everything is digital. There's no way to get my webcam to focus on my phone screen. It just washes out or is blurry. SO VERY FRUSTRATING!!! HOW can I get verified? Even in the dropdown it says you can provide a screenshot of the student portal, but then doesn't provide any way to actually do it!

Hello,

If your GitHub Student Developer Pack application was rejected due to academic affiliation verification, you can resolve it by updating your billing details and then reapplying. Please follow these steps:

1. Go to GitHub Settings.
2. Navigate to the Billing and Licensing section.
3. Open Education Benefits.
4. Select your rejected application.

You will see two blue links:

• Two-Factor Authentication
• GitHub Billing Information

5. Click GitHub Billing Information.
6. Fill in your billing details.

Note:

• It is not mandatory to add a payment method.
• Make sure the name in the billing details matches exactly with the name on your school ID card.

7. Save the billing information.
8. Then apply again for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

After completing these steps, the application is usually verified and approved within about 30 minutes.

this is my exact problem. i just had my membership revoked because i was unable to get a picture OF MY SCREEN using iphone continuity camera. the picture was awful but i had no choice, sent it in and now here i am. This program is literally a requirement for school for me.

Totally broken...I had my account revoked. I need certain services for school. It said that what I sent in didn't show a current date...Obviously the classes I'm signed up for most recently arent going to show up on a transcript, the class isn't complete yet. Thats what my first denial letter said, which doesn't make any sense lol. Maybe the photo was a bit unclear from the completely insane way that i was expected to take a picture with my crappy webcam in the most awkward way possible.. and I don't have a functional printer to use, I had to try to take a backwards mirrored-image photo of a PDF opened up on my monitor. (oh btw, the course i'm about to start is a fully online bootcamp fast-track program...its heavily project based meaning full dependency on the student functionality of Github). The first one caught me off guard so i took it with the worst webcam imaginable, when I realized how bad it was, I tried it again with my iPhone as continuity camera and that looked just as bad. So now I wasted two tries, I'm about to start a class that fully depends on this, and it's a bit frustrating especially because of how heavily i've been getting into this stuff lately. I probably spend more time teaching myself things way beyond the scope of my particular classes than I do on the actual classes. Most recently I learned everything I could about deploying self hosted containers and integrating that with the functionality of agents inside of VScode, which I can now no longer experiment with in any kind of real way. I spent all day learning openclaw just to have an alternative lol (its lowkey better tbh)

Please help me re-establish my account asap, thanks! I'm sure it will be functional again eventually it's just a really unfortunate time for this

The Copilot settings page shows “GitHub Copilot Student is active”
The https://github.com/copilot page shows Copilot Pro
I guess because Copilot Student is still active, I cannot select premium/advanced models in Copilot Chat/Cli/VScode
