Why am I seeing this message, and how many premium model requests do I get with the GitHub Student Developer Pack? Also, what is the renewal period for these requests?

First of all, a premium request is an interaction with GitHub Copilot that uses advanced processing power. Examples include prompts in Copilot Chat, using the Copilot coding agent, assigning Copilot as a reviewer, or using Copilot Extensions. Each premium request consumes resources based on the feature and AI model used.

The message you're seeing means you've used all of your included AI credits for this billing cycle. This is expected behavior when your monthly allocation is consumed.

While your credits are exhausted:

• Code completions (autocomplete) remain available — these are unlimited and unmetered
• Premium features (Chat, Agent Mode, etc.) are paused until your credits reset

Your credits reset monthly at the start of your billing cycle. You can check your reset date at Settings → Billing and licensing.

To manage your usage going forward:

• Use lighter models when possible (they consume fewer credits)
• Start new chat sessions per task to avoid context accumulation
• Code completions are always free — lean on autocomplete for routine work

• For individual plan users (Pro, Pro+): The user themselves is the "admin" of their own account and can manage their own overage budget in Settings → Billing and licensing.
• For org/enterprise users (Business, Enterprise): Only the org or enterprise admin can increase the budget. The end user must contact their admin.
