This isn't a usage problem (38.8% usage is fine). It's an access/entitlement mismatch on GitHub's side or a scope/account conflict. The "Access denied" message while your Copilot Pro subscription is active is a classic sign that your account isn't being recognized as eligible by the Copilot service, even though billing says it is.

What's likely going wrong

You've likely got one of these four issues:

1. Wrong account context (most common) — You're logged into one account in your browser/VS Code, but the Pro subscription is on another account.
2. Broken entitlement sync — GitHub billing shows Pro, but Copilot backend hasn't assigned the correct license.
3. Organization override — An org you belong to is overriding or restricting Copilot access.
4. Corrupted auth/session tokens — Your session doesn't have the right scopes, so GitHub denies access.

Steps to fix it

Step 1: Verify you're using the correct account

On GitHub:

• Go to: https://github.com/settings/copilot
• Confirm your Username matches the one with Copilot Pro

Then in VS Code:

• Press Ctrl + Shift + P → GitHub: Sign out
• Sign back in with the SAME account

If you're using multiple GitHub accounts, this is likely the root cause.

Step 2: Force refresh your Copilot entitlement

This fixes most "Access denied" cases:

1. Go to: https://github.com/settings/billing
2. Click "Manage Copilot subscription"
3. Cancel subscription → then Re-enable it immediately

This forces GitHub to reassign your license properly.

Step 3: Reset GitHub + Copilot authorization

1. Go to: https://github.com/settings/applications
2. Revoke:
   • GitHub Copilot
   • VS Code OAuth
3. Restart VS Code
4. Sign in again

Step 4: Check organization interference

If you belong to any org:

• Check the "Access" section
• Look for: "Managed by organization" or "Disabled Copilot"

Test: Temporarily leave the org OR use a personal repo to see if Copilot works.

Step 5: Test in a clean environment

• Open your browser in Incognito/Private mode
• Go to: https://github.com/copilot

If you still see Access denied → it's 100% a backend/account issue.

If nothing works (very likely scenario)

At this point, stop troubleshooting locally. You're dealing with a GitHub entitlement bug.

Go to: https://support.github.com/

Include:

• Screenshot of your active Copilot Pro subscription
• Screenshot of the Access denied page
• Your username

What to mention:

Reality check

If:

• Your subscription is active
• Your usage is visible (38.8%)
• You still get access denied

→ Your local setup is NOT the problem. This is GitHub failing to map your billing to Copilot access.

Fastest working path

1. Confirm correct account
2. Revoke + re-login
3. Toggle subscription (cancel → re-enable)
4. If still broken → open a support ticket (don't delay)
