I have work that I absolutely need to finish by tomorrow, but it suddenly got interrupted.

A message appeared saying to wait for a few minutes, so I waited and tried again, but the same message keeps popping up.

Is there any way to resolve this?

It looks like Copilot has hit a weekly limit, so this may not be an issue with your setup. Try waiting for the time shown in the message, switching to another model or Auto, and avoid retrying the same large prompt too many times in a row. If it still keeps happening and is blocking your work, it’s best to contact GitHub Support. GitHub has also mentioned that some normal use cases can get affected by these limits, and they are still improving the system.

GitHub has been of no help, with the "Community Manager" instead talking about something to do with free trials when this is happening to paying users.

You have a number of options in the mean time:

1. Use "Auto" mode if your IDE shows it as an option. This will offer significantly worse code quality and will randomly pick worse models.
2. Use a local model if your computer is powerful enough.
3. Get an OpenRouter API key if you need a specific model.
