Hi everyone,

I recently created a repository to document what may happen when a GitHub account is flagged and hidden from public view:

I created it after going through this myself. During that time, I found that the available information was scattered across official docs, community discussions, and personal experiences. It was especially difficult to navigate the process from mainland China because SMS verification can become a serious obstacle.

This repository is intended as a practical playbook and archive. At the moment, it mainly includes:

• what a flagged / hidden account looks like in practice,
• common symptoms after an account is flagged,
• possible causes discussed in community cases,
• recovery / support / appeal paths,
• a case list summarizing different users’ experiences,
• and an “existence ledger” to record developers whose public presence was temporarily erased when their accounts were hidden.

This repository is not about bypassing GitHub moderation. It is meant to document symptoms, recovery paths, and user experiences for legitimate users who are trying to understand what happened and how to recover.

My question is: if you have gone through something similar, what information would have been most helpful to you at that time?

I would also really appreciate any feedback on the structure of the repository or suggestions for what I should add.

我最近整理了一个仓库，专门记录 GitHub 账号被 flagged、被隐藏（hidden from public view）之后，用户可能会遇到什么、可以怎么恢复、以及有哪些真实案例：

我之所以做这个仓库，是因为我自己最近就经历了 GitHub 账号被 flagged、主页对外不可见、贡献记录别人看不到、并且在 support / appeal 流程里反复卡住的情况。
在这个过程中，我发现相关信息非常分散：一部分在官方文档里，一部分在 GitHub Community 的讨论里，还有很多是用户各自零散分享的经验。对于中国大陆用户来说，这个过程往往更麻烦，因为 SMS verification 可能会成为一个非常实际的障碍。

这个仓库目前主要想做几件事：

• 解释什么是 “flagged / hidden from public view”
• 总结被 flagged 后常见的现象
• 整理社区里常见的可能原因（仅作经验归纳，不冒充官方结论）
• 总结 support / appeal / reinstatement 的处理路径
• 建一个案例列表，记录不同用户的经历
• 做一个“存在档案 / existence ledger”，记录那些因为账号被隐藏而一度像“被从平台上抹去”的开发者

这个仓库不是为了绕过 GitHub 的 moderation，也不是为了鼓励任何违规行为。
它只是想帮助那些正常使用 GitHub 的用户，在遇到类似情况时，能够更快理解发生了什么、应该怎么处理、以及别人是否也有过类似经历。
