Script not playing on HA Voice Preview

My HA Voice Previews are on the latest firmware as uploaded a few days ago. MA is also the latest version as was updated a few hours ago.

A script is failing to trigger the playlist. It simply loads the last things played, and continues with that.

It starts by locating the voice module that the command was issued on, and then uses that to determine the player.

The script executes and I know that the value is correct, because the bedroom starts playing music... just not the RPWL playlist. It starts the previous one instead.

I know the playlist and script works because this works on the office player. It just won't work on the HA Voice Preview.

But you just said the queue wasn’t replaced

It starts playing the last playlist that it was working on, rather than loading the new one.

Correct. Queue A was not replaced with queue B. It does on Squeezelite, but not on HA voice preview.

Did you try it as just a standalone action?

No. I concluded that it works with one player, it should work with all. The traces show it has the correct media player in the script and the media player does start playing... so I determined that there's not much more I can test with. If you need any logs, I'd be happy to provide if you get me instruction as to what you need.

I would start to build up the script and see where it is going wrong. Just do the music_assistant.play_media block in the dev tools and see if that works for a start.

As a separate point. In your script the first block seems redundant as the variable is not used

The first was there before I created the location script.
The second was because this also suffers the other problem with the pausing issue... in the hope that if the first play failed, that a second attempt would get it to work.. but I now know that this is also doomed to failure and when it's stuck... the only thing that can unstick it is "next track." I'll have to code that in.

To answer the question... in dev tools I used the office player to see what would happen, because I know that's working.

It started playing LoFi Tokyo Neon, which isn't even a playlist.

Attempting to remove "_content" so that they matched the code used in the script, errored with "Failed to perform the action media_player.play_media. required key not provided @ data['media_content_id']. Got None required key not provided @ data['media_content_type']. Got None"

I'm no further forward understanding why code works on one player, doesn't work on the other, and why the code that works in the script, won't work in the dev tools, and the code that dev tools will accept, won't pull back the playlist.

I have a feeling that the code that the dev tools is using, is using HA media player and not MA.

EDIT - Incidentally, LoFi Tokyo Neon is a very long track that I use in the bedroom to put me to sleep at night, so it is usually queued on the bedroom player... but I don't listen to that in the office... so I'm stumped as to why the dev tool execution started playing that instead of RPWL.

That is because you are using the wrong action. You can't just use a playlist name with the HA action. Use this

Did that... still didn't work.

Apparently despite it being described as media_player.bedroom_2_media_player in the ID in MA, I had to address it as media_player.bedroom_2_media_player_2 ... and then it worked. Why... I haven't got a clue. But hey ho.

You need the HA entity_id as it is a HA action.

So if that works then check how you are constructing the entity_id here
