DNGs are converted

Hi!

I have a question if it is expected that DNG images are converted into a smaller file size with a photos back-up feature? My original image is 77MB on iPhone and the synced version is 8MB.

I will investigate it - are those DNG's created by the iOS camera or placed in the photos library by some other app?

On my iPhone, a raw picture taken through the camera app nicely exports to a 74MB DNG (same size as indicated in the photos app).

Those DNGs are created by Camera app - raw photos.

I have iOS 26.0.1 if that is relevant.

Then its quite strange I am not seeing it here; does it happen on your device only with specific camera settings, or for all photos?

Sorry for late response, missed your reply.

Not sure what you mean by shortcuts bug, as the comments says convert DNG to Heic/Jpg, which is expected behaviour if you export raw to compressed format.
I tried exporting from Photos app with Save to files and it saved it right.
Will try to check myself what could be wrong with. Could you just quickly point me to the code, that is responsible for pulling & saving the images?
