I've loved computers since I was a kid. In high school, I dove headfirst into IT and programming, building little projects and dreaming of making it my career. Life had other plans though — college didn't quite click, and a series of tough circumstances led me down a different path. For years I worked various trades: hands-on, honest work that taught me grit, problem-solving under pressure, and the value of showing up every day no matter what.

But the pull of code never really went away.

A few years ago, I came full circle. With the rise of powerful AI tools and incredible free online resources, I found the perfect entry point to get back in — this time smarter, more focused, and with the support I needed to make it stick. Now, after work each evening, I'm rebuilding my skills from the ground up: brushing up on fundamentals, tackling modern languages/frameworks, and pouring my energy into personal projects (including game development, because who doesn't love creating worlds from scratch?).

My goal is clear: become proficient enough to land meaningful remote/full-time development work, transition fully into programming as my career, and provide a better, more fulfilling life for my wife and our two kids. I want to build things that matter, contribute to open source, solve real problems — and feel that deep sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.
