The app does not collect, store, or share any personal or typing-related data. User privacy is fully respected, with no tracking, telemetry, or data reporting of any kind.
The app does not contain any analytics, advertising trackers, or background data collection mechanisms. Your usage remains entirely private.
- Internet (Lite, Google Play versions only): Required to download dictionaries from GitHub. Network use is limited to downloading dictionaries and any required metadata from GitHub; the app does not upload or share your personal, typing-related, or other user data. If your device does not allow revoking it, but you are concerned about your privacy, please use the full app version, that does not require Internet permission at all.
- Notifications: Optionally needed to display dictionary loading progress, and when dictionary updates are available. Requested after first install or after an update on Android 13+. If you do not grant it, the app will download and update the dictionaries silently.
- Microphone: Required only for the optional Voice Input feature. Not needed by default, and will be requested only when you choose to use this feature. The app does not access or transmit any audio data without your explicit action.
- Storage: Required only when importing and exporting custom word lists or other backups. Not needed by default, and will be requested only when you choose to use these features. The app does not access or transmit any files without your explicit action.
- Contacts (Google Play version only): Required only when you choose to import your contacts into the app's dictionary. Not needed by default, and will be requested only when you choose to use this feature.
Voice input functionality in Traditional T9 relies on external speech recognition services, which may require an Internet connection to operate. These services are not part of Traditional T9 and function independently.
When voice input is activated, your speech may be sent to third-party providers for processing. Traditional T9 does not record, transmit, or process the voice data, and cannot guarantee how external services handle your information.
If you are concerned about this, you may choose not to use the Voice Input feature and deny Microphone permissions when prompted.
Purchases are managed by the Play Store app. Please, see its privacy policy for details on how your purchase data is handled. Traditional T9 does not have access to any of your purchase information.
Traditional T9 is open-source, meaning that anyone can review the source code to verify the privacy claims above. You can inspect the code yourself to ensure that the app does not collect or transmit any data.
The Google Play version includes premium features that are closed source, but these features do not have access to any user data and do not change the app's overall privacy stance.
