An OpenTelemetry Primer

What is OpenTelemetry?

OpenTelemetry (OTel) is a vendor-neutral, open-source observability framework that provides a unified set of APIs, libraries, agents, and collector services to capture distributed traces and metrics from your applications. Think of it as the "plumbing" that standardizes how observability data flows from your code to your monitoring systems.
