Rewind crashed my ROM, deleted save file

Was playing Pokemon Blue and needed to rewind. I changed rewind time to 10 minute and 400% speed and when I attempted to rewind, it reset the game. However my entire save file was also gone.

Anyone know how I can get this back?

Unfortunately it cannot be recovered if you didn't create a permanent save state via the save state menu or a down swipe. Can you elaborate on how rewinding it crashed the game?

When i changed the rewind speed and swiped to the left, the screen went grey for a half a second and then brought me opening scene, and only the 'new game' option was available. I was able to replicate this issue by attempting to rewind at that speed.

This is odd, this is an issue that existed in older versions but I can't reproduce it anymore. Which version of SameBoy are you using?

Version 1.0.1
Pokémon Yellow rom, playing in celadon city game corner, rewinding for free attempts at matching 777 n the slots. I was rewinding a lot within a few seconds of each rewind, suddenly screen resets and save file gone. Feel free to reach out for more details! If I can help solve this one I’d love to.

I'm trying to get a reproduction of this, so I'd love as many details as possible:

1. What model were you emulating? Was it Super Game Boy? Game Boy Color?
2. Were you using the touch screen or an external controller? Both?
3. What was the rewind and turbo speeds set to? Were you using dynamic speed control?

Sorry for delay, been travelling!

1: running Gameboy Advance model
2: exclusively touch screen on an iPhone 15 pro max, ios 18.5
3: rewind set to 10 minutes, 400%

I’m in another playthrough at the moment and intend to do the exact same thing (with a save state backup before trying), if I manage to trigger the same event that wipes a file I’ll post here. I feel it’s likely trying to rewind and fast forward a lot in a very short period of time, at times I find it easy to accidentally trigger the sameboy menu when attempting to speed up or rewind, so that could have played a part also

One last question, were you using the Lock After Swiping setting?

Oh and one more! Normally, when you reset or load a save state, you can rewind to undo the loading (unless your reset or load switched an emulated model). Did you try to rewind the reset after it happened? Did it work?

And a last one! Does this ROM rest on iCloud or locally?

Lock after, no, I was manually fast forwarding and rewinding.

I had no save states to use unfortunately, was relying on the in game save feature. I did try to rewind immediately after the wipe, the screen just blanked and I tried to rewind but there was no point earlier than the game starting.

Well other than running out of disk space on the iPhone I'm out of ideas. I will place a few mitigations that should prevent this from happening again, but without a way to reproduce it I can't be 100% sure. =/

Oh yeah I understand it’s a tough one to replicate! I’ve tried also but couldn’t.. whatever caused it, seems to be an exceptionally small chance of it happenin. If I ever catch it again I’ll provide some screenshots of settings immediately after
