๐ŸŽฏ Project Overview

This repository captures our endโ€‘toโ€‘end research process โ€” from identifying the problem to delivering final outputs โ€” emphasizing collaborative problemโ€‘solving, careful analysis, and clear communication to enable actionable insights.

๐Ÿ” Domain Focus: How can young displaced individuals in the U.S. โ€” especially those without prior tech experience โ€” access sustainable IT careers? We compare formal pathways (universities) with nonโ€‘traditional options (bootcamps, online certifications, nonprofit programs).

๐ŸŒŸ Key Finding

Non-traditional education pathways (bootcamps, online courses, nonprofit programs) offer displaced youth a scalable and accessible entry into IT careersโ€”particularly roles like IT support, QA, and junior web development.

๐Ÿ“Š Executive Summary

  • Most accessible roles: IT Support, QA Testing, Junior Web Development
  • Best pathways: Bootcamps, online platforms, nonprofit training
  • Key success factors: Mentorship, microโ€‘credentials, job placement support
  • Challenge: Degrees still correlate with higher pay, but often exclude displaced youth
  • Opportunities: Focus on highโ€‘immigrant states (CA, TX, FL, NY); build crossโ€‘sector programs

๐Ÿ“ฆ Deliverables

โž• Core Artifacts

Core artifacts

Communication formats (from Communication Strategy โ€” excluding Essay, Slides, Website)

  • โ–ถ๏ธ YouTube Explainer Video โ€” 3-minute animated, voiceover; story-driven summary
  • ๐Ÿ–ผ Instagram Carousel Campaign โ€” 6โ€“8 slides of tips with CTAs
  • ๐Ÿ“ฒ WhatsApp Channel โ€” ongoing engagement & updates

Additional assets

โœ… Conclusion

While college degrees offer higher salaries, they are often out of reach.
Our research shows that displaced youth can successfully launch tech careers through:

  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Entry-level roles with low barriers
  • ๐ŸŽ“ Alternative education formats
  • ๐Ÿค Mentorship and job placement support
  • ๐Ÿ“ Programs targeting key states (CA, TX, FL, NY)
  • ๐Ÿ’ผ Cross-sector inclusion initiatives
