Get "ERROR:CRX_FILE_NOT_READABLE", what am I doing wrong?

Have you set chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling to "Always prompt for install"? After changing it, restart your browser-there should be a “Relaunch” button in the bottom-right corner. This fixed it for me.
