Installation
-
Download LainOS ISO from releases
-
Burn the .iso to USB/DVD with a tool like Balena Etcher.(Rufus may cause issues, either balena etcher or the
ddcommand are recommended.) -
Check your BIOS, UEFI must be ON and Secure Boot OFF(I'm told that secure boot, doesn't need to be turned off, Libreboot and Coreboot compatible also).
-
Boot the system using your USB/DVD. Once you are at the user login, select Openbox from the upper left corner menu (Calamares only works in Openbox). Login with
user:liveuser and password:(no password) to enter the Openbox live installation environment. You DO NOT need an internet connection. Skip the Installer 'No Internet' message.(I will fix this soon)
Post installation:
-Issue the command sudo pacman -Syyu in the terminal to update the package databases and system(and sudo pacman -Syu to update every time thereafter), then issue nano to activate LazyVim, let it update, followed by Shift+U to force update LazyVim.
Installation - Virtual Machine (Virtual Box) NOT Recommended: Write the system to a USB for test drives
