For events organized by Agents which feature some fan made medal of some kind (IWWC, for example), have a field in which you can enter a passcode which assigns a specified badge to the site account. That way agents have some kind of memory that they participated in an event and the badge assignment can be automated but also restricted to only agents that have actually participated.
