Setup Zoho Mail (Free) for SES Email Verification

In order to setup AWS SES #33 we need to have an email address where we can receive mail
so that we can verify it as a sender.
Amazon has a product that allows setting up email called "WorkMail"
But there is no "free tier", the minimum is $4/month: https://aws.amazon.com/workmail/pricing

Input your desired domain name:

Input data:

You are forced to enter a real phone number to verify the account:

Once you have input your data, read and agree to the therms, then click the Proceed.

You will be presented with a confirmation step:

Once you have confirmed, you will be shown a page instructions you to Verify the ownership of the domain. Click the drop down and select your domain registrar/provider:

Select the "other" option:

That will show a verification screen. Click on the "CNAME" option:

in our current case the registrar iWantMyName has an easy way to add Zoho mail:

Looks like that's everything that needs to be done in the iWantMyName UI:

Once you've have added the CNAME verification in your domain registrar,
return to Zoho mail and click on "Verify by CNAME":

In my case the verification failed:

This is because the iWantMyName has setup the CNAME incorrectly as zmverify.zoho.com:

delete the invalid record and Add the correct DNS record:

That still failed ... 🤦‍♂

So instead I used the TXT method:

Added the TXT record on domain registrar:

This time the domain verification succeeded! Create the admin account:

Next create a user:

Create the hello email account:

Once you've confirmed that the account has been setup, click on "Back to Setup":

Skip the "Create Groups" page and go straight to "Configure Email Delivery":

Rather uselessly iWantMyName created the wrong MX records so we first have to delete them:

Add the correct MX records in the DNS settings for the registrar:

Back in Zoho Mail Domain Setup, click on "MX Lookup" to confirm the MX records are correct:

SPF DNS TXT record:

Add the SPF TXT record in your domain registrar:

Back in Zoho click "next" and then when then on the "Email Migration" click "skip".
On the "Mobile Access" page, click "skip".

Basic setup complete:

Now when you visit https://mail.zoho.eu you should see the Zoho email inbox:
