What would you like to do?
I want to be able to create multi-selection polls.
Why would you like to do it?
I think this is pretty obvious, as it was already a "What's next" idea in this blogpost from 2022 (next to other ideas that are also still missing): https://element.io/blog/element-welcomes-polls/
Still, the reason is because in some polls multiple options are valid for a single user and the point of the poll is to find out which option is the "most popular" one.
How would you like to achieve it?
When creating a poll, it should be selectable what kind of poll it should be. Default could still be that it is single-selection.
Apart from that I don't think anything needs to change, except the fact that you could select multiple options when you use the poll of course.
In terms of the backend side of how to achieve this, I actually have no idea how it works.
I'm only writing this enhancement request as a user. I could look into it though, if there is interest in adding this, but just no-one available to implement it right now.
Have you considered any alternatives?
Right now my alternative is to just use a 3rd party polling site. That's obviously more friction and also less secure though.
Another option would be to have all possible combinations of options, but that is obviously not a reasonable alternative.
