Can't Log In to rapid editor

Description

I am getting a blank page during the login process. This happens in the login process just after signing into my OSM account and clicking Authorize. This was tested on Chrome and Firefox, both returning a blank screen.

This seems to be caused by a change upstream: openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website@2ff4d6a

Rapid uses osm-auth, so this depends on osmlab/osm-auth#138.

Same happening to me, for an unintentional log out. HOW can be solved? I have a large edition to save.

Sometimes I really hate this app. Not because the app as such but what it seems to me like a total care of the users' problems. Two days and looks like nobody cares to fix the issue.

As a temporary workaround (tested in Firefox 139):

This is an insecure workflow. Normally, you should never paste stuff you found on the Internet into the developer console.

1. Click the Login button in the lower-right corner to log into OSM using the popup window as usual. After you click the Authorize button, the popup window will navigate to a blank page.
2. Copy the URL from the address bar (which should contain “land.html”), then close the popup window.
3. In the main window where Rapid is open, open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Console tab, and enter the following command:

   authComplete("https://rapideditor.org/rapid/land.html?code=…")

   using the URL that you copied in step 2.

At this point, you should be able to see the usual save screen and go from there.

Still unable to log in, even using the workaround provided. We were in a Urgent Project mapping areas prone to Forest Fires for the upcoming season in August and September, and this problem is a huge setback in the work...

In case it helps, I edited the workaround above to clarify a few details. I only tested it in Firefox, so I’m unsure if some other browser needs slightly different steps. If it doesn’t help, you could deploy the branch from #1724 that includes the fix for this issue. Or your project participants could use a different OSM editor for now, as long as they don’t need any functionality that’s unique to Rapid.
