As a CLOUDINFRA co-curator and FLEX trainer, I reviewed the current state of the Rollout and Operations chapters.
The goal of this review was to identify overlaps between the CLOUDINFRA and FLEX curricula.
Existing overlaps that still seem meaningful in both trainings, each from its own perspective:
==== LG 5-3: Identify and select Zero Downtime methodologies and their implications
==== LG 5-6: [OPTIONAL] Explain the role of observability in the Deployment Process
==== LG 6-1: Explain and choose different operational models and their impacts
FLEX learning goals whose content we would make optional or remove in CLOUDINFRA:
==== LG 6-2: Understand and properly use observability - differences between metrics, logs, and traces
==== LG 6-3: Facilitate troubleshooting in distributed systems
==== LG 6-5: [OPTIONAL] Architecture can support incident management and fast MTTR
Learning goals with high (CLOUD)INFRA proximity that may go too far into technical detail for FLEX training:
==== LG 5-2: [OPTIONAL] Explain and select differences between IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, and FaaS
==== LG 5-5: [OPTIONAL] Specify deployment-specific security requirements
==== LG 5-7: [OPTIONAL] Optimize cost and resource efficiency in the deployment process
==== LG 6-6: [OPTIONAL] Contribution of architecture to disaster recovery and business continuity management
The open question is whether these 4 optional learning goals should be removed from FLEX so participants no longer get the impression that the trainings overlap too much. Even if they are optional anyway.
