When I add the KeyboardProvider wrapper in App.js, Android works fine, but on iOS the app freezes and does not allow any typing. What could be causing this issue, and what is the solution?

Maybe try to set preload={false} on KeyboardProvider level? I don't know what to recommend else, without repro it's hard to tell what's going wrong 🤷‍♂️

from my experience of debugging a behavior that worked on android, and did not work on iOS, check and try this (if it fits your case).
Are you pasting something in the app or having some components that autofocus?
Seems that if the focus goes wild, it might break it for other flows as well - this caused some input components not work on my app.
If applies to your case, try changing these components and retrying what currently doesnt work for you.

I narrowed it down to an input field that has autoFocus - which no longer works with react-native-keyboard-controller. I type one letter and that appears in the input field, but the input field thinks it's not focused. Then I type another letter but it never appears and the app crashes a few seconds later.

Kinda resembles what I had on my app, do you have any fields that autofocus like OTP or DateOfBirth for example? (Where filling one input advances to the next)

This is a single input field that uses KeyboardStickyView. Delaying the focus() call manually helps, but manual delays never lead to anything good :/

Manual delays are not a solution.
What I am hinting on, is that the problem does not originate from that specific input field, rather from a different one. You just stumble upon that problem later when something is already broken.
So, do you have any fields as mentioned in my previous comment?

No, nothing like that. Just a regular text field with autoFocus. It specifically happens when navigating from one screen to the other, so that might have something to do with this happening. But because the crash does not happen right away, this is nasty to debug (the input field just gets pushed into a state that will eventually cause the crash).
