Winhelp.exe is hanging

Hi, winhelp.exe is still hanging especially with 16-bit Total Commander 6.58. So I can't view .hlp files with it. I'm using Windows 10 Pro. How can I solve it? Besides, this application works on Windows XP VM.

Hm, I think I remember this issue. This is due to the very unstable scheduler model that NTVDMx64 Win16 emulation has to use, because Microsoft doesn't have the crucial parts that were used in the real NTVDM 16bit emulation on 32bit kernel in their Task Scheduler (they are stripped out).
I never got this running properly and finally gave up on it, so I suggest that you may want to switch to https://github.com/otya128/winevdm for your Win16 applications (don't worry, NTVDMx64 still works for DOS applications without issues).
There are certain applications that don't work with WineVDM and only with NTVDMx64, but you may want to give it a try first, most stuff works fine with WineVDM.

Thank you for the answer. However, it works with Total Commander 2.11. It is quite ununderstandable.

The cooperative Multitasking Scheduler unfortunately is very sensitive. There are many constellations to lock it up.
As Microsoft killed the GDI-support for WOW16 with 22H2, Wow16 part of NTVDMx64 is basically dead anyway.
