Data Collection and Usage

Donor Finder operates with a strong commitment to user privacy. Here's what you need to know:

NOT Collect

  • Donor Finder does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal user data on external servers
  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No analytics or tracking services
  • No advertising or third-party data sharing

Local Data Storage

All data created within Donor Finder is stored locally on your Mac:

  • Charity Information: Organization name, charitable purpose, sector, website
  • Campaign Data: Campaign names, descriptions, target amounts, timelines, target donor sectors, regions
  • Research Results: Donor prospects, contact information, research notes
  • Application Settings: User preferences (stored locally only)

This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to any external service.

API Key Handling

Donor Finder may use third-party AI services (Ollama and Tavily) based on your configuration:

  • Ollama: If configured, runs locally on your machine (and may use cloud models if you select them).
  • Tavily Search: If configured, API keys are securely encrypted using macOS Keychain and never stored in plain text
  • API keys are transmitted only directly to the respective service providers when you initiate a search

PDF Export

When you export research reports to PDF:

  • Files are saved to locations you choose (Downloads, Desktop, etc.)
  • No copies are sent to any server
  • You have full control over where reports are stored and shared

Children's Privacy

Donor Finder is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the application. Your continued use of Donor Finder constitutes acceptance of this policy.
