Assign Applications to Specific Desktops

Currently, very easy to open multiple versions of an app, that if on the wrong desktop, creates chaos. This especially true for apps such as Microsoft Outlook. Also not being able to assign a specific desktop for VMWare Horizon Client can cause strange behavior.

This should persist across docking and undocking a laptop. Would be a nice tie in to the other laptop related ones.

To add to that - when I dock my laptop I move windows on my second monitor to a second desktop instead. Would be really nice if it was possible to map an external monitor to a second desktop so when the external monitor was disconnected the windows on that monitor got moved to the target desktop.

+1 it would be great if this could handle multiple windows from the same app, allowing each to be on a different desktop.

This is a feature that several window managers in *nix have had for ages, some even allowing config via combo of app name, window type, and regex for window title. Sawfish is the best example for this that I’m familiar with: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawfish_(window_manager)

Desktop

does everyone mean a virtual desktop OR their desktop on different monitors.

I explain that a bit unclearly. I did mean that desktop was virtual desktop.

What I would love to be able to do is have a workflow for my laptop. When I sit at my normal office space I have two external monitors. When I unplug those I would love for each window on each external monitor to be moved to their own virtual desktops. When I plug my monitors back in again the windows in the virtual desktops would then move to each external monitor on my main/first desktop. Basically a mapping of external monitors to virtual desktops.
