Licensing issue

You depend on SignalProtocolObjC for OMEMO, which is licensed under GPLv3+. That means your whole project must be licensed under GPLv3+ as well. Or is there anything I missed which allows you to BSD instead?

It uses signal protocol c as well as signal protocol objective c. Both have special provisions to allow the binary to be distributed in the Apple app stores under the MPL.

so in a nutshell, my code is BSD. The other cocoa pods included have their own licenses. You can see this in the opensource.html . Generally speaking I have a strict no GPL rule. Because you can't have GPL apps in the App Store (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2011/01/vlc-for-ios-vanishes-2-months-after-eruption-of-gpl-dispute/). This is why OMEMO and OTR before that were not available in Monal. I made an exception here because Moxie and Chris who are the authors of the two modules have made an exception to allow distribution under the MPL.

If someone were to distribute the app and want to steer clear of the GPL, they should turn on the no memo flag in mlconstants and monal is built without any GPL components and will work fine -- this is how I have been distributing App Store versions as I work out the bugs in OMEMO in betas.
