Description, Motivation & Context

Adding a preset for the globally-used tag landuse=village_green.

Village greens are distinct from grassland as they are primarily intended to be community spaces. However, they usually do not contain the level of amenities provided by a park.

     - Are the fields well-structured and have good labels.
     - Do the dropdowns (etc.) work well and show helpful data. -->

### Search

<!-- **Test the search** of your preset and share relevant **screenshots** here.
     - Test the preset name as search terms.
     - Also test the preset terms and aliases as search terms (if present). -->

In my experience this tag has been polluted by tagging for the renderer so much that its original meaning cannot be relied upon. Part of the issue is that the concept is not known in other countries then the UK where it was used first AFAIK which makes it super hard to translate in a way that will result in meaningful tagging.
I don‘t think adding a preset will help here.

We could maybe make this a preset in those countries that know the concept in the hope that the data is usable there. For Berlin I can say it is useless. I even tried a cleanup effort once which was abandoned.

Let’s see what others think…

Nearly all uses I seen are just invalid.

in this form it is just going to encourage more bad tagging

maybe name itself should be more clear when it is valid and that tagging small strip of grass with it is very wrong?

As the others have already mentioned, this tag is a bit problematic: It appears to be something that's specific to certain countries (at least according to how the wiki describes it). Also, it was at least in the past misused to tag regular urban green spaces (probably as part of mapping-for-the-renderer?). Lastly, the tag's usage is stagnating in the past couple of years (see taginfo).

I think this tag should be discussed with the broader OSM community. @samjcorbin: would you like to lead this discussion (for example in the community forum on https://community.osm.org)? 1

probably mapping new valid uses is balanced by cleanup of large pile of misuses (I just retagged/deleted several)

I agree that this tag is problematic. People use it to map swards, but there are at least three other tags for this.
