In the US, this is archaic. I have seen "WC" on the doors of bathrooms in other countries. We usually only hear water closet used in novels that take place in the 19th to early 20th century, when indoor bathrooms first became a thing.

oh, WC is real and in use - but I would say that "water closet" is archaic

only today I learned for what WC stands for
