User is going to be removed?

Hello! I set this account up this week. Yesterday, I see one of the user's access is scheduled to be removed on July 1, 2025. How can I fix this? Thank you!

1. Go to GitHub.com and sign in as an admin of the organization.

2. Navigate to your organization settings:

• https://github.com/organizations /YOUR_ORG/settings/copilot

3. In the Copilot section, choose "Manage access".

4. Look for @zach-raffa-dearman in the user list.

5. If their status shows as "Scheduled for removal," you'll usually have an option to cancel that removal or reassign the license.

Click on "Reassign license" or "Cancel scheduled removal" (the exact option may vary based on GitHub's current UI)

Maybe you could try this?

1. Removing and Reassigning Access

• Navigate to the Copilot settings for your organisation.
• Take the impacted user off of Copilot.
• Add them again by hand.

2.Verify the Seats That Are Available:

• Verify that your company has an adequate number of Copilot licenses available.
• Check for Group Syncing (if SCIM/SSO is being used):
• Verify that the user is a member of the appropriate synchronised group with access to Copilot.

3.Verify billing and subscription:

• Verify that your Copilot subscription is operational and set up properly.
• If the problem persists, get in touch with GitHub Support:

I tried that. It doesn't work. I think we will see what happens on July 1st and just give him a new seat.

hey @clarelawson18 follow these steps to solve your problem

Go to GitHub.com and sign in as an admin of the organization.

Navigate to your organization settings:

I ended up in the same broken situation thanks to another issue.

The workaround is to create a team containing the relevant users, then add that team to copilot.
If that doesn't work, try it the other way around, create a team, add it to copilot, then add the users to it.

Brokenness Github should fix

• When I installed a free app thinking I was saying "use my own billing details for that free app", Github decided to override our whole organization billing details with my own (empty) ones, which auto-revoked everyone's access in the way shown.
• Once the billing was sorted out and a payment had gone out, the copilot page still prevents re-adding users already in the list (but marked for removal). There was no option to restore/cancel etc.
• Unrelatedly, in fixing this I was reminded that all the "add seats" and "add people" to team buttons show people outside the org, which is a security disaster waiting to happen.

Hi @GrahamTheCoder did you figure out how to re-add/renable the users? We're going through exactly the same situation as you had

I used the workaround explained in the post (adding users to a team then adding the team itself to copilot seats). If it didn't work for you then I don't know
