Copilot Pro+ Claude Sonnet 4.5 rate limited after 3.7% monthly usage - undisclosed limits blocking work

I subscribed to GitHub Copilot Pro+ on February 12, 2026 specifically for intensive development with Claude Sonnet 4.5.

After less than 24 hours of use, I started receiving this error:
"Sorry, you have exceeded your Claude Sonnet 4.5 token usage, please try again later or switch to Auto. Error Code: rate_limited"

My usage at the time of blocking:

• Premium requests used: 3.7% (approximately 55 of 1,500 monthly requests)
• Budget spent: $0 of $100
• Subscription: Copilot Pro+ (active)
• Budget "Stop usage": Disabled (set to NO)

The problem:
These Claude 4.5 hourly/daily token limits are NOT disclosed anywhere:

• Not in the Copilot Pro+ pricing page
• Not in premium requests documentation
• Not visible in the usage dashboard (which shows 96.3% quota remaining)

The rate limit appears to reset after a few hours, but I have no visibility into:

1. What are the exact Claude 4.5 token limits per hour/day for Pro+ users?
2. Why aren't these limits shown in my usage dashboard?
3. How can I plan my work if I don't know when I'll be blocked?

I cannot open a support ticket - the support.github.com website creates an endless loop back to help articles, and direct email to support@github.com is blocked by GitHub's mail policy.

I paid for Pro+ specifically to have robust access to advanced models. These undisclosed limitations make it impossible to rely on the service for professional development work.

Can someone from GitHub Staff please clarify these limits and update the documentation?

Dude, I feel for you. Copilot has so many problems, it's infuriating. I've only been using it for a short time and I've already encountered quite a few issues.

It is stupid to hit that rate limit barrier, when you have PRO account and extra premium budget.

If you have a premium account, why should there be a rate limit even? Makes users want to think twice before using this. Also it would be good to know the levels exhausted based on usage so that we can keep it for the complex tasks. Not the best way but it is what it is.
