I originally had this issue when using the Plex provider, but switched over to local media since all my media is tagged, however I still see artists getting mixed up. Often there will be the correct artist, but then some additional, unrelated one as well. Here's an example:
Here's the output of Very clearly, Kansas is nowhere associated. And the random Tal Bachman song... no Coheed or album anywhere. |

There was an issue like this a while ago. I assume you only have the file system provider loaded now? If it won’t be too inconvenient I suggest doing a database reset to rebuild it and see what happens after that. MA SETTINGS>>CORE>>MUSIC CONTROLLER>>ADVANCED SETTINGS |

That looks like it did it! I'm wondering if going back to Plex will work if I clear the DB as well, or if that still has issues. |

I'm having the same issue with Plex provider All songs played show a second, unrelated artist.
Correct artist here is Chromeo. City and Colour is totally unrelated. Running version 2.5.1 of Music Assistant server. |

I have the same issue. I added my local files as a music source. I noticed artists were mixed up. I then tried a database reset, synced again, and a completely new and random mix came up: 
I'm on MA 2.8.9 EDIT: Please note that if I click on the "Refresh item", the artists are fixed for the Album or Track. |

@OzGav So, I found a good example with all the tags populated. MA shows this when opening QOTSA: 
See that "Giorgio Montanini" artist? The tracks for QOTSA are all tagged:

By the way, it also looks like that firing the "Sync Track" job fixes the wrong artists 
I'll check the whole collection later, since this is not happening for the majority of the artists/albums |

Once you have fixed all of the tags you should do a complete database reset. MA SETTINGS >> SYSTEM >> MUSIC. Toggle the advanced switch and then RESET THE DATABASE |

@OzGav That's what I did, multiple times. Every time new randomness appears. I know it's difficult to debug without having access to the collection. I'm mainly writing here for awareness. More users can have the same issue, and somebody will figure it out (I hope). Thanks for the support! |

The thing is no one else has this issue. Each time this comes up it is due to inadequate or incorrect tagging. You need to retag your whole collection and then do the reset. An easy way to test this is just to do a subset of your collection, put it on a different share and import that. If a fully tagged set of tracks still has a problem then we can look further into it. |
