We won't be able to upgrade Sphinx until we drop https://github.com/Chilipp/autodocsumm, which has been abandoned. What are we using this for, and is there a good replacement?

Another alternative that @isaaccorley and I may prefer would be to deprecate all metrics and suggest torchmetrics as a replacement. Then we don't need to worry too much about documentation, we can just remove it.

I think this now looks identical to the original without the abandoned dependency. Let's merge and consider deprecating and removing metrics in favor of torchmetrics another time.
