Disable quote formatting

Currently, there is a single option around quoting style: changing the formatter from enforcing " to enforcing '. I would like an option to leave quoting style alone.

As in would it enforce single quotes? I assume so. But I do not want to enforce any quote style.

This would be useful when working on large yml files where you just want to format properly but not change hundreds of quotes. I really hope this gets implemented at some point.

This needs to be implemented. I want to use the formatter for the indentation and such, but enforcing the quote style is BREAKING for azure pipelines YAML files because the quote style has semantic meaning with regard to variables/parameters.

We rely on prettier for formatting at the moment, so we either need to wait for them to provide that option or come up with a different method of formatting. We don't really have the bandwidth to write our own formatter at the moment, but that would provide the most flexibility with regards to making it configurable. I know that @remcohaszing has a PR to use functionality built in to the yaml parser we use instead of prettier, but I think it was still work-in-progress and there were some limitations to that approach.

It’s not really work-in-progress. It’s more pending maintainer feedback.

Currently yaml-language-server uses Prettier, but without its full functionality. The Prettier extension is a better choice for formatting YAML files.
