Allow adding an unspecified shop

Use case

• I see that there is an unmapped shop while driving by (or from public transport) but don't have the time to go and see what kind of shop it is
• I see what looks like a shop while armchair-mapping using a photo overlay, but can't see very well what it is selling
• I'm surveying on a Sunday and see an unmapped shop with the shutters down so I can't see what it is selling
• I've had a few cases where even while the shop was open, I couldn't figure out from the outside what it was selling. Or a new shop is about to be opened but it isn't stocked yet, so I would like to already add it but don't know yet as what type.

Proposed Solution
Allow the selection and addition of an unspecified shop type (shop=yes) in the places overlay. In this way, I can add a shop and let others know that there is a shop, but it needs to be surveyed to see what kind it is. Right now I sometimes add shop=vacant or shop=general (when I want to then add name and opening hours), but they are not actually correct. Of course I could add a note to let mappers know that there is a shop there, but why not make it possible to add shop=yes right away and not clutter the map with notes?

I think it would be better to leave a note, no? If you are not sure which shop, then a photo would help greatly. shop=yes is somewhat useless (for data users) and only serves as a hint for other contributors to check (on-site??) what kind of shop it is. But you are already on-site.

Also, did you check whether this is really not possible right now? I am not entirely sure if this functionality was added as a side-effect of #6140 (v60.2+)

I think I see Richard 's argument.
Leaving a note - and watching back on SC - is "just" a note which a very unspecific idea of what to do.
Seeing the "what shop is this" quest gives me a clearer idea of what the task is, I have to answer.
Nevertheless, I'm unsure if the proposed solution would work in the long term. I haven't got a better idea, though 🤔

In the use cases above, there would not be time to take a photo, a photo is already available but it's not good enough, or a photo wouldn't help because it wouldn't be visible what kind of shop it is on it.

Also, did you check whether this is really not possible right now?

I tried searching for a suitable value in the list of shop values when adding a shop, but did not find one. A shop with shop=yes shows as "shop (unspecified)" (back-translated from Dutch) but searching for this string when adding a shop doesn't find it. In iD, where I use English, searching for "shop" shows the item that sets shop=yes as the first in the list.

Testing in v60.3, I can add a generic shop no problem. Typing "shop" shows it as the first entry.

Apparently, in Dutch, the preset is named "Winkel", a keyword with which it can be found would also be "handelszaak".

You can add other keywords (terms) and synonyms in the iD presets translation project.

Searching for "Winkel" only brings it to the top when all 6 letters are entered. Less than that shows it way down the list, after a lot of scrolling... 😊
