Blocks of Text Delete while typing

When typing on my external iPad keyboard, one word or a whole bunch of them, get highlighted in green very quickly and then get deleted. I have to undo a few times and then redo a few times to get the text back.

I'm not sure how this could be happening unless you are accidentally hitting command-a while typing quickly? Do you have any steps that you could share that consistently demonstrate this problem?

I’m really having a hard time connecting it to anything in particular so that I can consistently demonstrate it. I turned off the trackpad to make sure I wasn’t brushing up against it, but it didn’t help and it’s still doing it. Not hitting command-a… I’ll report back if I can find anything useful.
