Where is the release for 4.8 ?

Hello, where can be found the release for classic Sven Co-Op 4.8, specifically the Linux version?
I can only find source for 4.5 version for linux/windows, and then windows release version for 4.8, but no linux release or source for 4.8.

It might not have been released. I couldn't find the source for anything beyond 4.5 either.

Oh my mistake, I thought you were the developer as the 4.8 pack I found somewhere was called "w00tguy123-bot-pack 4_8.rar".
Yeah its unfortunate that lot of old bots are closed source, painful to make the old binaries work, or just can't find version for linux for example and only a windows one.

Just an example I also wanted to set up a dod v1.3 server and the best bot available afaik is sturmbot v1.9 which is closed source and the creator died in 2004, i can only find windows version for the v1.9 and for linux could only find a v1.6 version.
It seems to have been compiled with some 2.x or early 3.x ancient GCC which didn't have stable ABI yet and thus isn't compatible with newer libstdc++, and need bunch of exception handler functions and have stupid things like __builtin_new not inlined, so have to create LD_PRELOAD shim for it, and then binary patch with hex editor so it loads dod.so instead of dod_i386.so only to find out the v1.6 version is severely lacking to the later v1.9 one which i can't find anywhere

I'd like to set up a SC 4.8 server too with bots but seems that similar issues are here, can't actually find the bots 😓

Other changes since the 4.5/4.8 version:

In the releases, so the 4.5 version is compatible with 4.8?
The first commit is the import of original 4.5 source? bots-united is dead now and its getting hard to track these things down.
So the repo is originally 4.5, but the current release says 5.25.
I looked through the commit messages and it wasn't clear at which point the transition happened. What commit is the last which is still 4.x version?

The w00tguy123-bot-pack 4_8.zip here works perfectly for Sven 4.8, it has hundreds of map waypoint files included too, things like that being at danger of becoming lost media.
The helpful string here is the
"rcbot_ver" is "1.5_BETA_mm_release_win32 (SC 4.8) (BUILD Aug 17 2013-22:59:59)"
so there indeed was a 4.8 build at a point.
The only problem is here that where is the source, the forum is dead now, the readme mentions a rcbot_i486.so and linux installation but it doesn't exist in the archive. The source would help to build the linux release, or even just the binary of it would be great. I hope it hasn't vanished to depths of some dead forum and become lost.

The first commit is the 4.5 code posted by Cheeseh, before I touched anything. I broke compatibility for 4.x shortly after to fix bots not attacking anything in 5.x. 6ea87d1 is the last version that might work in 4.5. The 4.5 version doesn't work with 4.8.

That's a shame the history in bots united is lost. I searched for more recent sources in the forums when I started this fork and couldn't find anything. Cheeseh released binaries for testing a few times, but didn't include code. I once asked for it when it seemed he didn't have to time to fix the bots for newer versions of sven, and that's when he posted the 4.5 source. Maybe he'll do the same for you, if he's still around.
