Steps to reproduce the bug

I open the smart tube app and nothing loads. All I do is open the app and I get multiple errors. Its very frustrating because its been like this for 2 weeks with no fix

have tried all settings in the developer options, tried the dns settings and no videos load or when they do finally load after 20 minutes of restarting the app , the videos buffering and apparently my 1000 download speed Internet cannot handle a 720p video. This is just 1 of many errors for the past 2 weeks. Nothing will load

I'd get that error whenever my wifi connection was really bad. I'd recommend switching to lan, if possible. (Micro USB to RJ45 adapter)

Or maybe a DNS issue. Have you tried Settings > Player > Developer options > Prefer Google DNS ?

Hi there, I can't use a lan cable, I'm using an amazon fire tv stick. And yes I've tried all settings in the developer options and none work

As others have told you, you might have and unstable internet connection on the device.
Weak WiFi, thus, experiencing a packet loss.

It is on your side, so you need to check weather it is:

a DNS issue (Addresses are being resolved poorly or not at all)

or the Streaming source may be blocked or inaccessible, potentially by a firewall, Pi-hole, or AdGuard or something else.

Do others apps (which connect to the internet or stream) work properly? Are you eager to try a factory restore of the FireStick if nothing else helps? ;-D

Hi, thanks for the reply. My wifi connection is stable, I only have this issue on both my fire sticks for smart tube next. All other apps on the fire sticks work without issue. When I use tizenbrew that also works perfectly fine. I genuinely do not believe it is an Internet issue because it just started out of the blue.

How do I check if it is a dns issue? I'm not sure how to do this. If you're referring to the google dns or ipv4 dns in the developer options, I have tried these settings to no avail.

I have never changed any settings on my wifi admin account. I have been using the same setup since I moved to my new place (3 years ago) and have never had an issue up until 2 weeks ago where nothing loads and when it does my 1g speeds isn't enough to stream a 720p video but on stremio it does it with no issue.

I can try to factory reset my firesticks and see if that works, but I don't think that is the issue because everything else works fine.

wild ideas:

-maybe its a 2.4GHz or 5GHz issue?

-do speedtests on the sticks (firestick settings -> network -> (press play on) your wifi name -> chose speed test or check the other infos

-swap a working firestick with a non-working firestick and see what happens. (maybe a working stick is not working at the new place after swapping (would indicate a wifi/repeater problem) or a non-working stick is suddenly working at another place.

-if you have guest wlan (or neighbors wlan), try it instead of your normal wlan.

-check if the firmware are identical or very different.

-you could try to downgrade the ST version and see what happens (I asume, its sideloaded with adblink or some similar tool), but you need to uninstall the newer version to install an older one.

How do I check if it is a dns issue?

Use adb to connect to your firestick. open console (adb shell) and then use simple pings:

ping -c 10 netflix.com
ping -c 10 youtube.com
ping -c 10 amazon.com
ping -c 10 github.com

print network diagnosis: dumpsys connectivity | grep -iE 'DnsAddresses|Domains|Routes|ServerAddress'

you might also check date to see if your firestick have similar dates. if not, set them to the actual date. weird things can happen when the date is crazy...

there are a lot of other things (ipv6 or ipv4, routes...) to check, but the fireOS is also very ... not standard to its complicated to give general advice here. you might ask your personal AI for dns problems on you stick and for advice which onboard tools to use and then copy the output to the AI. would be faster compared to via github issue :)
