• BVOC/Megan status updates.

  • The MEGAN code, per Megan ctsm #74 and Megan fates fates#10 is currently producing outputs that are within the tolerance of shifting from CLM to FATES - FATES generates drivers for MEGAN that give slighlty different temperature, soil moisture, internal CO2, etc. and so we expect the difference to be answer changing. What our tolerance for changes should be is hard to properly discern.
  • The cases that currently run this are **on Derecho (**from last week when Betzy was in a bad mood). So these need reimplementing on Betzy.
  • These PRs need testing and a code review.
  • There are no diagnostics for MEGAN outputs in the NCL diagnostics oackage. We should
    • 1. run a new coupled simulation to take a look at the changed outputs.
    • 2. think about whether to add megan diagnostics

• Dry deposition.

  • Rosie to provide update on status of dry dep PRs Dry deposition working with FATES-NOCOMP fates#11 and Drydeposition  #88 by Friday.

• Parameter file for alpha09.

  • at a minimum, we need a parameter file that does not ose the crop areas.
  • Better than that, the parameter file should be updated to be consistant with the spinup tests we have been running with FATES since mid July. This will need changes to be merged with the more recent updates. Best practice for this would be to make an xmlchange script to append to the current parameter file, like the ones in here https://github.com/NGEET/fates/tree/main/parameter_files/archive

Diagnostics.

• Try to collectiuvely figure out how to run the NCL diagnostics package.
  • Modify variables in diagnostics packages as a bonus extra.
  • Investigate the potential for modification of the atmospheric diagnostics to integrate land variables to increase the medium/long term viability of our approach.
