We have a feature called mutual rooms in Cinny to help with moderation. Since this was disabled by default now, that feature is unusable. IMHO it should have been enabled by default after putting behind experimental flag, so existing features based on this don't break. |

@kfiven I'm sorry that the availability of the endpoint helped encourage this situation. The whole point of putting these things behind an experimental flag in the first place is so clients don't build features on unstable endpoints and start relying on them before they're accepted into the spec (as they can change and break compatibility at any time). Please direct your users to enable the experimental feature on their homeserver for now. In the meantime, MSC2666 has just had FCP merge proposed. Once it is accepted, we'll remove the experimental flag again and make the endpoint available by default (and keep the |

The team has decided to deprecate and stop publishing python wheels for MacOS. Synapse docker images will continue to work on MacOS, as will building Synapse from source (though note this requires a Rust compiler). Admins using the unstable [MSC2666](matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals#2666) endpoint (`/_matrix/client/unstable/uk.half-shot.msc2666/user/mutual_rooms`), please check [the relevant section in the upgrade notes](https://github.com/element-hq/synapse/blob/develop/docs/upgrade.md#upgrading-to-v11440) as this release contains changes that disable that endpoint by default. As MSC2666 is still not accepted, it should not be enabled by default. One must now set
experimental_features.msc2666_enabled: truein their config file in order to enable the endpoint.cc @Half-Shot as the MSC's author.
The implementation was originally introduced in matrix-org/synapse#7785 on 2020-07-05
