Define core mission succinctly.
Some examples:
You might want to note priorities in capacity allocation to clarify what activities would take precedence over others to be transparent on use of resources, especially when demand is high, and to manage expectations.
In the case of KDL this is our current priority list:
- High quality grant funded projects with colleagues in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Research Services Catalogue Activities
- Funded projects with external partners
References to any relevant business and operations document with a summary overview of where the team's funding comes from can be a useful addition. You might also outline what mechanisms and associated responsibilities are in place to define targets for allocation year on year outside of this document (e.g. planning rounds, KPIs).
Outline primary value of RSE team if mission text not succinct enough e.g. in the case of KDL: > primary value and market position lie in its contributions to high quality grant-funded projects with significant technical requirements
List activities which fulfil core mission (e.g. RSE contribution to projects lifecycle, funding application, research outputs)
